Teen Shabbat – LIVE and In-Person – Friday, April 9
May 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm UTC+0
An event every month that begins at 6:00 pm on day Second of the month, repeating until May 14, 2021
RSVP by Tuesday, April 6 at 9:00 PM
We are very excited to be able to present another live, in-person Teen Shabbat on the second Friday of April! We look forward to creating our own unique and sacred space to begin Shabbat together.
This event will be a live, in-person, socially distanced, masked and temperature-checked outdoor service!
We will celebrate outdoors in the courtyard; strict distancing of 8 feet or more will be maintained at all times. Upon arrival, waivers will be verified and/or collected and temperatures checked. Entry will not be permitted without a waiver, or if a teen is showing any symptoms or has an elevated temperature.
Siddurim will be distributed via a link to be viewed from each participant’s phone, so that no physical items have to be passed from person to person. A small, pre-wrapped Oneg treat will be set out for each participant to take as they are leaving (sorry, we cannot enjoy our Oneg together during the COVID restrictions!)
All participants MUST RSVP below, and return a waiver signed by a parent in order to participate. Click here to fill out and sign the waiver. There will be no exceptions to this policy, so please RSVP and submit a waiver for each participant! Please RSVP by April 6 to allow for assembly and isolation of Oneg packages.
Additional Important Information
Because of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in San Diego, we are proceeding with increased precautionary measures in place.
We continue to meet outdoors, temperature-screened, wearing safe and well-fitted masks at ALL TIMES, and maintaining a safe physical distance at all times.
Due to increased risk, we will now maintain an increased distance of 8 feet between participants.
We do not recognize individual pods – if you have “podded up” with another family, we sadly must enforce that the distance be maintained even between pod members for the safety of all participants. Siblings and people who reside permanently in the same household may be within proximity to each other; all other individuals must maintain a distance of 8 or more feet.
Car Pools are Discouraged
In efforts to remain in compliance with current CDC guidelines, we strongly advise against the use of car pools. While we know that car pools can facilitate more participants’ ability to join us, unfortunately car pools of individuals not residing together pose an increased risk of virus transmission. Further, car pools can complicate and confound contact tracing procedures, making it more difficult to ascertain the chain of transmission when a case emerges, and endangering our ability to continue holding these in-person events.
If car pools are unable to be avoided, we strongly advise following the CDC’s guidelines for car pools (linked here). Car pool participants will still be asked to maintain the 8-feet distance during their presence on Ohr Shalom premises.
Teen Shabbat is an ongoing program of Education and Youth at Ohr Shalom. 7th-12th Graders in the Ohr Shalom community are invited to help create their own unique Shabbat space – something to set Shabbat apart from the rest of our time. Your voice and ideas are important!
