Teen Cooking June 18: Hand rolled pasta from scratch!

Making pasta may seem like magic, but it’s extremely practical and accessible!  In this lesson we’ll make our dough from scratch and learn to make several iconic pasta shapes.  Then we’ll cook a batch together and share the results!  During the down time (there’s always time to wait) we’ll have a few minutes for Kitchen Q&A.

What you’ll need:

1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup Semolina flour (or additional a/p flour if not available)
extra flour for work surface
salt
olive oil (or other neutral-flavored oil)

plastic wrap
rolling pin
a flat surface upon which to work
3- or 4-quart pan of water to boil
colander
bench scraper (aka pastry cutter).  Butter knife will work in a pinch.

Nice-to-haves:

A can or jar of your favorite tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, crusty garlic bread, and anything else you like to have with your pasta!
